Thrummed Mittens with a Twist! - Daily Vlog Episode 54

In this video, I talk about the weirdness which is the creation: lined mittens made with thrums! They look goofy but are very warm and padded. You can vary the size of the thrums so the mittens aren't as thick. As I mention in the video, you can make them reversible, just make sure that the mittens are larger than your hand measurements--that way, as the knitted fabric stretches for the outer mitten, the inner mitten won't feel rumpled. Also, by choosing a larger size for the mitten, your hand won't feel squished if you decide to make the thrums thicker like I did in mine. Finally, don't worry if it seems like you're making a stuff toy. The first wash will flatten them considerably, and the heat/sweat/friction from use will felt the wool in between the layers, thereby making them flatter with use.

The green yarn is a commercially made merino blend, but the brown yarn is handspun zwartbles, featured in this video: https://youtu.be/0oeQw72Qyes
